Bike to Work

Want a fun way to get to work and get a workout as well?
(Weather permitting, of course!)

You could do both if you biked to work!
While other commuters are sitting in traffic, you would be cruising along and enjoying the fresh air. Better yet, you’re also getting a great workout. It’s easy to get started and to find a buddy to ride with.

Whether you want to bike to work on a regular basis or only on occasion, make your bike commute easier by considering the following tips before you get started.

  • Make sure your bike is in shape for the ride. Consider a tune-up at one of the sponsoring bike shops or call 860-522-2217.
  • Take a practice ride on a Saturday or a Sunday when there is less traffic.
  • Call one of the Bike to Work Buddies in your town. Ask them to ride along with you on your first trip. There are several DEP employees on the list.
Fun Fridays!
Join fellow DEP cyclists for a free breakfast at special "bike commuters only" events. Check the website (www.wecyclect.org) for details.

Where to Store Your Bike and Freshen up
  • A secure, covered bike rack is located in the lower level parking garage at 79 Elm Street. It is accessible from the driveway past the loading dock.
